Ouchs sunburn

February 24, 2008

My arm hurts from the sunburn on Friday. In case it isn’t clear, these are the events that led to the sunburn.
After calling Dirtwheel to tow my stranded bike, I went MTBing again.
We rode from Seletar to Punggol (I think but don’t trust my direction cause my direction is super screwed heh)

Hm, there were a lot of new experiences.

It was my first time cornering through sand.
KTM skidded but managed to recover.
I skidded and fell @$%#$%!!! (And yelled “Nabei” on top of it… KTM didn’t hear lolz)
Don’t mess with soft sand k? It’s deceptively difficult!
(Especially when you accidently stop on it in the wrong gear and starting again is one hell of a bitch)
The damage: 1 ‘orh cheh’ (bruise) on the leg. Nothing much (it was soft sand)

Then we also had to cross a bridge, but it was high tide and the bridge was totally submerged.
It was my first time riding through water.
Erm… the feeling was very weird lor. There was all this debris near the water that I had to navigate and went I entered the water, I had this feeling like I was riding through a fish tank. Not to mention the strange bumps hidden underwater and the row of holes in the bridge (that fortunately wasn’t hidden)
The water was all the way up until my pedals, therefore my whole shoe was submerged and is still hanging up in the balcony to dry.
On the way there we didn’t know whether to ride through or not but we were lazy to lube chain and sprocket (and I had never been through water before and couldn’t swim) so we just carried our bike across.
Then there was this security guard coming toward us to tick us off so we rode away.
On the way back, we decided to ride across cause we could lube chain back at the van. I realised the guard did not intend to tick us off after all, just tell us to ride our bikes across, cause there was a sign that said something like “No pedestrians, only bikes and vehicles allowed” on the bridge.
Hohohoho!
(I would have taken a photo but I don’t carry my hp with me when biking)

Other than that it was quite an easy ride la.

Anyway the water washed all the lube off my chain.
Think I need to go lube chain again.

And now I am two-toned again. Hohohohoho!

Chink chink?

December 8, 2007

So I got Knut today.
And of course I got lost in Tampines after overshooting the PIE entrance, and then ended up so supremely lost that I took the TPE instead. Okay. Just another day in the riding life of SATan.

Anyway when I was parking Knut I heard the engine making this strange “chink chink” sound.
Like this: Vroommm…. chink chink chink chink…
The last time I rode with Biker #1, he drew my attention to the sound and said that showed the engine had problems. But at that time the sound was still rather soft.
Today it was very very very noticeable.
This bike has been giving me no end of problems since I got him.
First battery fuck up, now this chink chink thing.
If it’s engine problems, that will be very nice since the bike is only as good as the engine…
Well at least he can still move…
Sheesh.
I want my Rexz back!

KTM is very much better now. He might be discharged tomorrow 🙂
I smsed him about “chink chink” but he hasn’t replied yet…

This is Spaaartaaa!!!!

December 7, 2007

Anyway,

Knut reached the shop after all. He needed a battery change, which the shop did for me for free, I just had to pay for the towing.
He was ready for collection yesterday morning, but I’m only free to collect him on Saturday…

Anyway,
My final year project was due today. Unfortunately most of it isn’t done yet.
We managed to get an extension to Monday.
IT IS PURE MADNESS OVER HERE RIGHT NOW.

And KTM is allowed to drink sips of water now.
Poor KTM.
But it’s better than nothing though…

Worrying and worrying…

December 5, 2007

I’m worried.

I don’t know where my bike is.
Knut wouldn’t start last night and I parked him in a carpark.
I called the shop today at 11+am to tell them to tow it to the shop. They told me to leave Knut’s handlebar unlocked so that they could load it onto the lorry easily.
I unlocked Knut’s handlebars and went to class.
At 1+pm, Knut was still in the carpark.
I left to hand Knut’s keys to the shop before he arrived.
At around 2-3pm, I reached the shop and they told me that Knut hadn’t arrived yet.
So I don’t know where Knut is now.
I’m worried that they couldn’t find Knut, but if they couldn’t find him they should have called me right? And nobody called me so far, the shop didn’t call me, neither did the towing guys.
I’m a little worried he might get stolen… after all he’s already been left there for one night…

And KTM has an inflamed pancreas and has been hospitalised.
He looked fine today.
But his stomach hurts rather badly.
And he’s not allowed to eat or drink.
He ate two of my Eclipse mints though…. shhhhh…. 😉

Biker Number 2

November 17, 2007

This is the story of how I met my second bike mentor Biker Number 2, also known as KTM (and who is NOT the blogger Kuay Teow Man).

He’s called KTM cause he has an “KTM van”, and he’s the ‘KTM’ that you find me mentioning on this blog.
He’s a professional racer and also a commitee member of a motocross club.

Well ok.

Some time after my ma died, I had quite a bit of free time (compared to the time before my ma died la) and I read about this motocross tryout thing in the Straits Times that was organised by New Paper, so I started ‘jio-ing’ (asking) people to come along with me, some backed out, some were too scared, some had no money, some wanted to go but unfortunately it clashed with their daughter’s birthday, so in the end I gathered my sister and my guy friend to accompany me. And very very nicely, there was only one place left and it was given to my sis, and she couldn’t make it so she gave it to me, and I thought of giving it to my guy friend but decided that it wasn’t nice to give it to my friend since my sis gave it to me, so even though I was getting cold feet, I went anyway.

Anyway it was pretty fun la. And that’s where I met KTM.
He called me up after the event to complete a survey about the event and I responded (like duh), and that’s how I got his handphone number.
(Come to think of it, “duh” is archaic slang, don’t think any of the younger generation are using it anymore, and at times like this I feel my age catching up with me :x)

Well anyway my bike (the RXZ that Biker Number 1) helped me check when I bought it got stolen and during that time a lot of things had just happened and I was in a state of depression. Things being that my ma just passed away, that bike was her last “gift” to me (she used her check to pay for it but never had the chance to take the money back from my account), well and anyway if your 4-month old bike is stolen you will be in a state of depression la. Not to mention I was also very frantic. Frantic enough to sms everyone I knew who rode or drove to help watch out for my bike. Even those I had only met once before. And since KTM had sent me (I think he sent everyone who went to the tryout) an invitation to watch a motocross event, I replied him that I couldn’t go because my bike had been stolen (you have to drive to the location of the event), along with the description of the bike.

Surprisingly he was very helpful and even helped me call the customs to make sure my bike hadn’t been taken out of Singapore, which I totally didn’t expect, cause I really didn’t expect anyone who didn’t know me well to respond with anything more than a cursory “tough luck, ok I’ll keep an eye out for it”.

Then somehow we just started smsing each other, first about the stolen bike and then slowly moving on to our daily lives and other assorted stuff.
Then one day, we met to have dinner together and then we started going out mountain biking and other stuff.

He helped me find my current bike (Knut) and all kinds of bike-related stuff.
And he also expressed an interest in me because we clicked well together.
(Somehow I keep getting involved with guys over bikes…)

And then… the story continues 😉

No time to blog

November 17, 2007

Ever since I met KTM, I’ve been getting kinda too busy to blog.

He’ll call me up or I’ll call him up and we’ll go mountain biking, or just go out for dinner and talk about bikes and other stuff, or drive around Singapore (his van), or go get my bike fixed in various ways (first the tail light wasn’t working so we had to send it back to the shop, then we’re now going around looking for a box and a raincoat so I can start bringing Knut to school).

I’m so busy right now that even my father is kind of unhappy about me staying out everyday so guess I have to be a ‘guai’ (good) girl and come home for dinner sometimes. And of course I’m getting kinda distracted from my schoolwork too ahahahaha.

Today we went to look for a box for my bike, and then we went hunting around for a bracket for the box. Couldn’t find a proper bracket that fit my bike, but the shop was willing to modify another bracket so it would fit. Going back on Wednesday with Knut to get the bracket fixed. 🙂

Earrings

November 1, 2007

I was going out with KTM, and he decided to buy a earring for himself, and since he only had 1 ear pierced, he wanted me to get my ear pierced so he could give the other one to me.

As usual, I declined.
Same as when I went with May (or was it Evon? Or both?) to get her ear pierced.
At that time I was tempted to get one too, but in my upper ear cartilage instead of a normal lobe one.
I was glad I didn’t, caused it was done at 77th Street with a piercing gun which no one should ever try unless they are really fond of unnecessary risk taking (it’s not even fun and the desired end result is the same as when you do it properly)

If I’m going to get a piercing, even a minor one, I’m going to consider it carefully, do some research, and then get it done in a proper hygienic piercing studio with a proper needle.
Not that I intend to ever get a piercing anyway.
The less unnecessary and (possibly dangerous) things I have hanging off me the better.
(You never know when you’ll suddenly decide to climb some tree or crash down some hill or something, don’t want anything getting caught on stuff 😉 )
And also because I think I do have a tendency to keloid, which kinda sucks.

Lol, come to think of it, if I ever have a ear piercing, I’ll probably just go buy some ear sticks and use them all the time cause they’re cheap. Which kinda defeats the purpose of getting a earring, no?

Another reason was that I felt bad taking the earring la.
1 pair was like $89?
Meaning that 1 side cost $44.50?

Going to hell in a handbasket

October 31, 2007

Been seeing this guy (let’s call him KTM) recently and we do crazy things together and have a lot of fun.
Recently he confessed that he was interested in me.
Due to certain reasons, we agreed to remain as good friends, on these conditions.
1) Both parties do not expect anything from each other
2) Both parties do not expect anything to come out of our friendship
3) Whatever happens is subject to the consent of both parties.
4) If anything does come out of this relationship, it must be strictly above-ground, no hiding.
And whether we can still remain as friends would depend on how he acts in the future.
I also told him I was not willing to commit to anybody… simply cause I’m really not willing to commit to anybody at this point of time. No really.

Anyway, I do not feel it is wise to get into a relationship with him.
Apart from some more practical reasons that I shall not mention here, there is a big problem with personality too.
Which is that we are too alike.
We are both gung-ho, intense, confident, tactless, a little reckless and very strongly opinionated.
Which is one hell lot of fun if we’re on the same course, but if we ever disagree strongly about anything it will be very very ugly… with bruised egos everywhere.
(Do you smell trouble brewing already?)
A vehicle must have both an engine and brakes.
Same as a relationship. One party must be the engine, the other the brakes.
One keeps the stuff interesting, the other one stops them both from getting into too much trouble.
Unfortunately, we are both engines.
So the stuff gets really really interesting, but the consequences…. O_o
We’ll end up destroying each other.
But it’s a hell lot of fun while it lasts…
