Leaving on a jet plane

December 21, 2007

Leaving for HK tomorrow evening.
Mixed feelings.
I miss my Ah Knut already.
Wonder what it will feel like away from my house, away from Singapore
Suddenly I feel so alone…

Ok I always get all emo every time I leave Singapore for long periods.
I’m a homebody la.
My home is my castle πŸ™‚

Today while riding…

December 19, 2007

My battery died in the morning after 4 days of inactivity.

At first I didn’t know what to do, so I called KTM but he was busy at the airport. He said he’d rush down once he’d finished.
I asked him to tell me how to push start the bike over the phone, but he refused. He said it might be dangerous if I didn’t know what I was doing.

Anyway I decided to have a go at it myself anyway. So I searched the Singapore Bikes Forum.
Then me and my sis went down to have another go push starting Knut.
First we pushed Knut to the top of a slope.
Then I sat on Knut and my sister pushed him down the slope. When it reached a constant speed, I threw clutch. The engine roared to life. I throttled and rode off happily, yelling “Thank you! Thank you!” like an idiot.
Well, the 2 people push starting method is not dangerous.
It’s only dangerous if there’s only one person trying to push start the bike, cause when the bike starts moving on its own, it’ll start running away from the pusher.
But since I was on Knut, when he started running away, my sis could let him go and I could bring him under control before he went over the curb and down the hill.

Well, so shortly after, I rode to school to submit my project and charge the battery.
After I submitted my project, I decided to ride down to the food court for lunch.
So I was riding slowly into the carpark, and then I parked my bike and removed my helmet.
Then I saw this guai (obedient) and nerdy looking girl, looked rather young so I guess she must have been year 1.
And she was staring at me and Knut and gaping in admiration.

Kinda makes my day to know that I’ve inspired some girl to ride a bike? πŸ™‚

Shade and honey

December 17, 2007

I’ll cry gardens while you burn
‘Cause no one here can save you
She’s returning to the Earth
But one day she’ll be silver

(Sparklehorse: Shade and Honey lyrics)

When we drove down to the hospital on the day my mother died,
My aunt was driving.
We were in the rented car.
The radio was playing “Shade and Honey” by Sparklehorse.
I was gazing idly out the side window and noticed that we were the only car on the expressway.
I noted how easy it would be to change lane at this time of night.
And during that ride, we talked about everything.

A perfect day

December 16, 2007

Have a meetup with GEMS tomorrow at Vivocity but suddenly I feel lazy and don’t feel like going.
Sighhh….
(What can one do in Vivocity anyway?)

Just want to spend a day away from all those projects.
Maybe in the morning, I’ll bring Knut to the petrol kiosk to pump tires and pump petrol.
Then I’ll ride to school and submit my project.
Then spend the rest of the day lazing around in the sun washing and polishing Knut and getting rid of all the rust.
And then bring him out on a ride to check out all those places I feel like going to but don’t actually know how to go to. And have all the time in the world to get lost and then get found again.
Or else maybe ride him to Upper Peirce reservoir and take a stroll along the boardwalk doing nothing in particular.

What a luxury.
No, really.

Girls on scramblers or girls on sportbikes?

December 15, 2007

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forums/showthread.php?t=170144
For the benefit of lazy people, the question is: Girls on scramblers or girls on sportsbikes? Which do you think is more cool?

Firstly, let’s look at the option ‘Girls riding anything on two wheels’.
When a human walks on two legs, no one gives a shit.
When a dog walks on two legs, it’s cool and special.
So much for gender equality.

Secondly, this is a stupid question.
Let’s make it more gender-neutral, people on scramblers or people on sportbikes? And the answer to that is “depends on the person riding the bike”.
Rossi on a class 2 sportsbike is cool.
SATan on a class 2 sportsbike is not cool.
Does that answer your question?

Kind of busy right now with 2 projects to be done before Friday. For the week after that, I’ll be in Hong Kong.
Will get down to a proper post when the workload eases up.

Qualified rider!

December 9, 2007

As of today, I am no longer a P-plater.
However, I am still a bobo rider.
Because of this, I will continue displaying my P-plate until I get less bobo.

10 things I hate about riding bikes

December 8, 2007

1. How I always get lost (and end up panicking once I realise I’m not in familiar territory and immediately transform into a bobo rider)

2. How I have to park my bike where I usually park it so that I can see it from the window, and I have to back him uphill to get it into the lot without him falling over and trust me, that is the last thing you want to do after you’ve finished a long ride home and that shit is heavy.

3. How Knut is problematic and keeps doing odd things like screwing up or making strange noises, it scares the shit out of me cause I have no spare cash left in case he needs an overhaul. And I only bought him for less than a month, can you beat that?

4. Rain. Light rain ok, heavy rain is pure 😦

5. How the carpark near my block at school has ONLY 4 PARKING LOTS FOR BIKES. (ok, if there are others, I don’t know where they are)

6. How I’m always getting shit from my Dad about Knut and how I have to hide him from almost all the relatives.

7. Petrol

8. Maintainence is such a hassle. Ok, maybe I’m lazy and have a bad memory.

9. How Knut is draining my savings dry.

10. How I am a bobo rider and am always getting myself into strange, unbelievable and just plain bad situations. There are so many I could make a comic out of this.

Okay.
I think the one that irritates me the most is the lost one and the parking uphill one.

Chink chink?

December 8, 2007

So I got Knut today.
And of course I got lost in Tampines after overshooting the PIE entrance, and then ended up so supremely lost that I took the TPE instead. Okay. Just another day in the riding life of SATan.

Anyway when I was parking Knut I heard the engine making this strange “chink chink” sound.
Like this: Vroommm…. chink chink chink chink…
The last time I rode with Biker #1, he drew my attention to the sound and said that showed the engine had problems. But at that time the sound was still rather soft.
Today it was very very very noticeable.
This bike has been giving me no end of problems since I got him.
First battery fuck up, now this chink chink thing.
If it’s engine problems, that will be very nice since the bike is only as good as the engine…
Well at least he can still move…
Sheesh.
I want my Rexz back!

KTM is very much better now. He might be discharged tomorrow πŸ™‚
I smsed him about “chink chink” but he hasn’t replied yet…

This is Spaaartaaa!!!!

December 7, 2007

Anyway,

Knut reached the shop after all. He needed a battery change, which the shop did for me for free, I just had to pay for the towing.
He was ready for collection yesterday morning, but I’m only free to collect him on Saturday…

Anyway,
My final year project was due today. Unfortunately most of it isn’t done yet.
We managed to get an extension to Monday.
IT IS PURE MADNESS OVER HERE RIGHT NOW.

And KTM is allowed to drink sips of water now.
Poor KTM.
But it’s better than nothing though…

Worrying and worrying…

December 5, 2007

I’m worried.

I don’t know where my bike is.
Knut wouldn’t start last night and I parked him in a carpark.
I called the shop today at 11+am to tell them to tow it to the shop. They told me to leave Knut’s handlebar unlocked so that they could load it onto the lorry easily.
I unlocked Knut’s handlebars and went to class.
At 1+pm, Knut was still in the carpark.
I left to hand Knut’s keys to the shop before he arrived.
At around 2-3pm, I reached the shop and they told me that Knut hadn’t arrived yet.
So I don’t know where Knut is now.
I’m worried that they couldn’t find Knut, but if they couldn’t find him they should have called me right? And nobody called me so far, the shop didn’t call me, neither did the towing guys.
I’m a little worried he might get stolen… after all he’s already been left there for one night…

And KTM has an inflamed pancreas and has been hospitalised.
He looked fine today.
But his stomach hurts rather badly.
And he’s not allowed to eat or drink.
He ate two of my Eclipse mints though…. shhhhh…. πŸ˜‰
